Hari terakhir bagi tahun 2008

Saya cuti hari ini... bawa anak2 santai menonton wayang dan makan2. Sempat menangkap Cicakman dan The Spirit di pawagam dan beberapa DVD semasa hujung minggu.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is a humourless, lacking of positive attribute and sadistic movie. A superhero movie that should be for kids but was really made for adults.

The Joker is downright evil corrupt, insane, psychotic, terrifying and Heath Ledger makes this performance legendary. More scary than funny, he shows audiences the Joker is undoubtedly Batman's most nefarious foe and his perfect nemesis, challenging him all the way.

As then adult Batman movie, the screenplay is written very well. The characters are rich in character and the story has not a flaw in it. For a comic book film adaptation, this film is not at all fantasy-like. It is quite sadistic in a way and supoose to give the film more action, I presume.

Everything said and done, I don't want to see the movie again as it is bad for the soul of my children :P

Welcome Home Ruscoe Jenkins

It's actually kinda fun movie…

I wasn't expecting much of this movie though I fancy Martin Lawrence. As I read the comments and rating at the internet is low, I wasn't sure if that's because people just had low expectations or if it really was that bad of a movie.

I rent the DVD and the movie is not as bad as I was expecting. I laughed more than a few times. I think the problem with it is that we have all seen this type of movie before. The script is also semi-insulting with the stereotypes so I can understand why a lot of people hate this movie but I think everyone just needs to let go while watching it. The story is typical but you have to admit there are some good laughs in it.

I guarantee you'll get a few good laughs.

The Spirit

Strong visuals, awkward script... (Ingatkan cerita hantu pada mulanya rupanya cerita adiwira komik)

I have to say this film won't win many moviegoers' hearts out there. Personally I think this movie jumps right out from comic book's pages. The scenes and the dialogues are just like watching moving comic book's drawings.

I kept waiting for the story to intrigue me and for the characters to develop, but…

However, Samuel L. Jackson fancy me with another side of him as the non-intriguing villain, the Octopus. Samuel however does give us some of his crazy wild acting, although his character falls flat for the most part. I can tell that he is enjoying himself hehehe


Do not expect too much as this movie is a visual and metaphoric roller coaster. It is a story of life, death, beauty, love and lust. Its not perfect and not as I expected but its not bad.

Cicakman 2 : Planet Hitam (tapi tak sempat nak hitam pun!)

Azhad yang mencadangkan kami menonton filem ini kerana dia nak tengok perempuan jahat hahahahahaaaaa naughty sungguh alasan dia… (anak sapa laaa tu??? ikut pak dia la...)

Sebelum saya menonton filem ini telah saya letakkan harapan yang tinggi di luar panggung. Tidak adil untuk membandingkan filem ini dengan filem Hollywood yang jauh lebih besar bajetnya. Bukan kerana saya tidak yakin dengan kemampuan filem kita cuma saya anggap filem ini adalah filem permulaan kepada filem2 seumpamanya.

Mungkin ramai yang nak tengok filem ini sebab…

~ Jalan cerita lebih kemas dan menarik dalam sekuelnya kali ini.

~ Cicakman 2 menampilkan lebih banyak aksi yang menggunakan teknik imej janaan komputer (CGI) dan kesan khas.

~ Mengekalkan jalan cerita yang sama, watak Hairi/ Cicakman lakonan Saiful Apek dikupas dengan lebih mendalam dalam sekuel terbarunya ini.

~ Mengekalkan pelakon asal seperti Saiful Apek sebagai Cicakman/Hairi, Aznil Nawawi (Profesor Klon), Fasha Sandha (Tania), AC Mizal dan Adlin Aman Ramli (Ginger Ghost).

~ Sekuel Cicakman ini turut dibintangi muka baru seperti Sharifah Amani (Iman), Tamara Blaszenky (Rrama) dan Louisa Chong (Miss Chee).

~ Menampilkan satu kelainan dengan memberi lebih banyak ruang untuk watak cameo dalam sekuel terbarunya ini. Antara watak cameo yang paling menonjol dalam filem ini adalah watak Aziz M. Osman yang menjadi editor di syarikat televisyen, Fulus News.


Saya suka rambut Aziz M. Osman dalam filem ini... Ada stail la...

Saya amat menyukai kostum baru Cicakman. Nampak lebih tampan dan gagah. Kredit kepada pereka kostum Cicakman. Namun baju besi Profesor Klon gagal menampakkan beliau sebagai seorang ‘villain’… kaciwa…

Watak Rrama, seorang perempuan jahat (tu yang Azhad suka…) yang mempunyai kuasa luar biasa lakonan pelakon Indonesia, Tamara Blazensky benar menarik perhatian saya. Watak yang dilakonkannya amat berkesan sehinggakan karektor Rrama benar-benar membuatkan saya meluat dan nak baling kasut dengan hilai tawanya yang macam pontianak tersepit hehehe

Plot penceritaan lebih dramatik dengan paparan beberapa babak yang mendebarkan serta mencemaskan tapi perkembangan watak Prof Kon kali ini agak kurang menyengat sebab macam kurang jahat pulak. Mungkin sebab terpaksa berkongsi kejahatan dengan Rhama. Sebab Rhama begitu inginkan Cicakman tidak dinyatakan dengan jelas. Setakat mahukan jadi Cicakman sebagai masterpiece masih kurang memenuhi watak jahatnya itu.

Penggunaan CGI dalam filem ini tidak mengecewakan kerana berjaya membuat saya merasa di luar Malaysia. Namum babak kejar mengejar antara Cicakman dan Rhama agak kabur dan seakan cacat. Babak kereta perompak dipandu laju juga sedemikian.

Nak tambah bajet… alahai... bila dah buat penat2 lanun pulak merompak… macam mana nak maju????

Awal Muharram 1430H

Saya amat berharap pada tahun ini saya dapat mempertingkatkan lagi amalan akhirat saya. Bukan tiada usaha pada masa ini cuma virus M (malas bukan nama sebenar hehehe) berjaya menakluk diri ini. Saya ingin bebas dari virus itu.

Saya juga ingin menguatkan diri melawan gangguan jin dan syaitan. (Tak ingin bercerita lanjut tentang hal itu buat masa ini. Bila saya dah bersedia, pasti saya akan cerita.)

Masuk2 office ajer hari nih, terasa bahang... laaa... air-cond rosak rupanya... by the time pukul 11am baju dah start basah... by lunch ketiak dah masam... dugaan sungguh! nih baru panas dunia. :) saya mengingatkan diri saya juga...

Jadik... kepala otak dah jadik mereng sikit dengan baju yang dah agak lencun, saya kena alihkan minda saya kepada sesuatu yang lebih menarik tertarik dan da bomb! :P

Hari Sabtu lepas, saya hantar Abang Long aka Azim balik ke JB dengan FireFly. First time naik FireFly tau... Send him off kat Terminal 3, Subang Airport. The terminal is under massive renovation. Kat luar macam haprak tapi dalam... better than LCCT. Oleh kerana Subang Airport dekat dengan rumah, we all lepak2 ler siap Azim boleh makan nasi dengan sup ayam lagi Abah masakkan untuk dia hehehehe katanya alas perut tapi 2 mangkuk dia habiskan...

Nih gambar we all kat Terminal 3... Athirah sedih sebab nanti tak jumpa Abang Long lama... Mak Ngah (my younger sister) sekeluarga pun join sekali sebab lama tak tengok Subang Airport katanya. Barulah we all tahu yang bangunan airport Terminal 1 dan kena roboh rupanya... jadi siapa yang ada gambar airport Terminal 1 simpan ler but pusaka... bangunan dah tak dak dah...

Saya ada kenangan dengan Terminal 1... year 1995 during our trip to Phuket. Pasti akan saya simpan gambar itu! Nanti kalu saya scan saya akan post di blog nih... almaklumlah zaman tu masa ada digital camera :P

Tengok Athirah muka monyok sebab sedih Abang Long nak pergi... macam ler abang dia nak pi PLKN ker? obesee ker??? tu la masa Abang Long ada bergaduh... time macam nih sedih pulaks...

Lepas tu we all pi teman Mak Ngah pi serbey peti ais. Depa nak pindah rumah baru lah katakan... So bila bawak sikicik kicik nih tau ajer la kan????? Kemudian lalu ler kat Christmas display and ada lah 'snow' falling. Cuba tengok tu... over kan????

Pejam celik pejam celik kita dah masuk ke 2 minggu terakhir bagi tahun ini. Apa yang telah terjadi dalam tahun ini? Tak perlu kita bercerita hal dunia... cerita hal diri sendiri dulu. Adakah kita telah mencapai tahap yang kita azamkan? Atau masih membina istana atas kayangan? Tepuk dada tanya iman? Meningkatkah iman kita atau semakin lalok dengan godaan yang melalaikan?

Tak mengapa... nanti kita bercerita tentang itu kemudian. Saya hanya ingin masukkan entri ringkas malam ini. Mengantuk pulak... hehehe

The Happening

The movie was directed and co-produced by M. Night Syamalan. I like his style and still remember and love to watch The Sixth Sense, The Sign and The Village. Thou Lady in The Water is quite shameful, I thought The Happening is going to be better but... poorly written script... aiya...

.

Mark Wahlberg looked hard to deal with his character as if he is forced to act the way he acted in this movie. Poor thing... This film is simple, too simple with the intention of Twilight Zone feeling but it failed to twilighted me. It has flawed and awkward characters who don't always say the smoothest thing.

.

If you wanna appreciate the movie, it's up to you to be able to slow down and feel the emotions. Overall... The Happening is not happening at all...

Tapi dalam pada itu saya sempat membayangkan sekiranya dunia terjadi seperti jalan cerita The Hapenning ini. Apa yang kita akan lakukan? Adakah iman dapat menyelamatkan kita? Adakah kita bersedia untuk itu?

Sempat menonton DVD Get Smart hari Ahad lepas dan menonton siri Heroes, Ghost Whisperer dan Pushing Daisies semalam sambung menyambung sebab aku kena cuti, taska tutup sempena hari raya... memang aku conquer TV besar tu seharian daripada anak2 :) depa tengok TV kecik ajer :P nasib baik depa pun suka tengok citer GW dan PD so... kira acara bergolek depan TV la we all. Abah pi kerja. Makan pun beli kat kedai ajer... senang! Bukan boleh buat cam gini kalu Abah ada... :o

Get Smart

Fun and light entertainment and will not disappoint you. Anne Hathaway could do some action moves yea… but I like The Chief… plain cool and macho for an old guy hehehe

A friend of mine passed me 10 episodes of Season 3 Heroes and ran 5 episodes marathon back to back… OMG… I am definitely addicted to Heroes…. aaaahhhhhhhh…

Season three opened with two one-hour episodes, airing on Monday, September 22, 2008 in the United States. The premiere of the third volume, "Villains", was preceded by a one-hour broadcast of the red carpet premiere, with clips from the past seasons and previews of the upcoming season, along with interviews with the series cast and crew. "Villains" was originally designed to be included within the second season; however, because of the writers' strike, the volume was carried over into season three. The lead-in to "Villains" showed Sylar regaining his lost powers, shown as the final scene of the "Generations" finale. Tim Kring has said that the new volume will bring a cadre of villains to the show, hence the title. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2008 Kring screened the first part of the season opening episode of the "Villains" arc, entitled "The Second Coming", which was shown in its entirety at Comic-Con and received a positive response from fans. However, Bryan Fuller, who was involved with the first season and wrote two episodes, will return to the series starting with the twentieth episode of the third season, since his series Pushing Daisies had been cancelled. The name of Volume Four was revealed by Heroes creator Tim Kring at the 2008 Edinburgh TV Festival. "Fugitives" will make up the last 12 episodes of Season 3 and they will all be aired in 2009.

The story getting twisted and wicked as there is only a thin line separating heroes and villains. You can be a hero at this moment but transform to a villain in the next second. Who are you going to trust? Not even Peter or Claire…. Aaaahhhhhhh I feel like giving Tim Kring a ring right now!!!!!! :P

Ghost Whisperer

I love Ghost Whisperer. I don't know how long it will last but who can tell nowadays. I ran another marathon of 5 episodes back to back of season 3 hehehehe

As a mystic lover, I really like the show because it clicks me emotionally. I like "Medium" too but "Medium" never moves me on the same emotional level as "Ghost Whisperer" does.

Jennifer is emotionally honest to the behavior of a real mystic. Real mysticism has very little to do with ego and Jennifer's humble and caring character is exactly the sort of person that she would need to be in order to speak to people on this deep of an emotional level. Another thing… Jennifer really likes to wear low cut attire even when others are wearing thick clothing due to the cold weather hehehehe addition appealing strategy??? You guess…

Keep whispering... I am listening!

Pushing Daisies

At first I was attracted to Pushing Daises as Jazz was telling me that a TV show's main character could bring the dead back to life, well. I am a mystic lover I am?

Guess what? The shows were not at all like I imagine as mystic as it could be. Not like Supernatural, not like Ghost Whisperer and definitely some resemblance to Heroes only funnier hehehe I love Pushing Daisies colorful characters, witty banter, fast-paced dialogue and new unique situations. Ned and Chuck Charles' relationship is interesting to watch as they work their romance around the fact that they cannot have physical contact. Even Detective Emerson Cod's character has continued to grow in complexity and Olive Snook! She cracks me up! The narrator's voice is fun to listen to and the cinematography gives me the impression that the stories is happening somewhere else not on Earth!

I like the show… It gives me a feel good feeling :) I have completed Season 1… There are 3 episodes of Season 2 waiting!

Misteri Batu Hajar Aswad

Mama! Cantiknya langit... Moon, Mars and Venus

Semalam semasa saya mengambil anak2 daripada taska, saya terperasan satu senyuman di langit.

Masyallah... cantik... Pada anggapan saya, alaa mungkin bulan dekat dengan satelit. Athirah dan Azhad pun kagum melihatnya... Mama! Cantiknya langit!

Pagi ini apabila saya menerima emel daripada Cik Ketumbar, barulah saya tahu bahawa ini bukanlah fenomena biasa. Petikan daripada Sydney Observatory mengatakan ini terjadi jika kedudukan bulan, marikh dan venus dalam kedudukan tigasegi yang membentuk wajah tersenyum ; smiley. Ini bermakna dua titik yang berkelipan itu ialah planet ; Mars dan Venus dan bukannya bintang atau satelit seperti yang saya sangkakan.

Syukur saya dan anak2 berpeluang melihatnya kali ini. Di Malaysia, Australia dan Filipina, kita melihatnya tersenyum tapi di USA mereka melihat muka sedih. Semoga Allah lebih mengasihi kita :)

Kejadian seumpama ini dijangka berlaku lagi dalam tahun 2036. Masih adakah hayat untuk melihatnya???? Saya bercadang hendak mengambil gambar bulan malam ini... mudah2an menjadi... :P

Movies in November 2008

Cuti sekolah dan tayangan filem pun menerjah ke pawagam. Tak kurang juga filem yang keluar dalam bentuk DVD dan VCD.

Saya sebenarnya ingin menonton filem Twilight namun filem ini belum drakulat di pawagam pada hari tontotan. Jadi saya terpaksalah menonton filem kegemaran cinta hati saya 007. Nasib baik keesokkan hari filem Madagascar 2 berjaya menambat hati saya. Ini kali kedua saya membawa 2 budak kecil itu menonton filem. Legaaaaaa... mereka dapat mendisiplinkan diri. Mungkin cerita M2 itu menjadi tarikan mereka.

Quantum of Solace

They said they wanted to make "Bond for a new generation" but is that means James Bond has to be Jason Bourne? We now have the Bond franchise mimicking the Bourne franchise instead. How ironic!

They have taken away Moneypenny, Q, the gadgets, the humor and witticism, his "shaken, not stirred", the line "my name is Bond, James Bond." They even ditched the famous opening gunbarrel-sequence and you won't hear the James Bond theme right until the very end.

It's just an action movie with no character development. Meaning there is more action but the characterisation is integrated into both plot and action. Bond is once again on an emotional journey - forgiveness, believe it or not, is ultimately the quantum of solace of the title.

Craig still owns the role impressively and Mathieu Amalric is one of the better villains with convincing acting skills. Olga Kurylenko not especially memorable female lead and Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields hold a small role that weak and stilted straight-out-of-stage-school acting.

There use to be a time when Bond movies where trendsetting... I MISS SEAN CONNERY!!!!!

Now that you played around with Bourne, can we have the original 007 back for Bond 23, please?

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

The animation is better, the story is stronger…

Madagascar is about the zany cast of characters and how they interact with each other and the conflict that is presented onto them. It's fun, entertaining and unpredictable movie that continues the zaniness that made the original a personal guilty pleasure of mine. (I haven't watch the original you know!)

The voice acting were decent. Alec Baldwin didn't have much of a chance to lend his comedic skills either. The penguins steal every scene they are in, no matter how mediocre the previous scene was. Cohen (as Julien) has an obvious knack for comedy and delivers every line perfectly, not bad at all. Ben Stiller had fewer chances at being funny, as they had to handle all the major slower moments. Chris Rock's role was surprisingly limited, especially for someone who did so well.

Better animation and hilarious humor makes this movie worth sitting through. And there were some ridiculous events going on in the movie. A shark out of water? A penguin in love with a hula bobble head? Even seems like Gloria (hippo) and Melman (giraffe) are in love? All of this silly and ridiculous humor equal big laugh out loud moments. This is a great movie for the whole family.

Ok everybody! You Got To Move It, Move It! I Got To Move It, Move It! He Got To Move It, Move It! She Got To Move It, Move It!

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

It is not much of a film - the same story as the previous ones and most of the stuff in the movie were taken from them as well. The movie itself is just a flat headed mess of bad visual effects with no soul.

Brendan Fraser was no life in his performance and looked if he was waiting from a call from his agent to get him out of the movie. Jet Li is about the only good thing about the film but he's hardly in it. Maria Bello looked goofy and miscast and the actor who plays their son makes Hayden Christensen from the Star Wars films look like an Oscar winner. John Hannah managed to bring some laughs but his trick is not as fresh as it was before and Michelle Yeoh does not really do much with her role.

It is obvious that Fraser didn't look happy to be in the movie and you can't blame him for looking miserable. He has no chemistry with Maria Bello, who was just awful (she's no Rachel Weisz, that's for sure) and he has even less chemistry with his own son played by Luke Ford, who looks just as old as both Fraser and Bello. Fraser has more chemistry with John Hannah, who is a welcome distraction from the lousiness of the movie.

This movie lacks the creepiness of the first two Mummy movies and the stone warriors of this movie don't hold a candle to the ghouls of the first two films at all. Not to mention the fact that the visual effects in this film look even worse than the second movie (The Mummy Returns). The movie itself seemed toned down in the fun and thrills and not to mention the dialogue, which seems like it was written by a five year old.

It fails at being entertaining. It doesn't live up to the first or even the second. It is boring, confusing and the characters are bland. It is just an all round failure and should be buried in the Tomb of the title, never to be re-awakened. The production seems did not even cared about what they were making.

WALL-E

The best way to describe this movie is a science fiction, comedy, dramatic love story. Wall-E as a character has dimension, personality and heart... pretty impressive given that he is essentially a trash compactor. It is true that there is little dialogue in this feature but I personally did not feel it detracted from the story at all.

The animation is flawless. Absolutely flawless. Especially scenes on earth and the robots. It looks real. Much of the time it's hard to tell whether or not it is real. The few slightly-shaky styled shots that appear a few times in the film only makes the animation that much more amazing and realistic.

Thumbs up for Wall-E as well, he is such a cute and adorable character that you will fall in love with him immediately.

The story is brilliant. There are many little things in the film that have so much meaning. There are things that will be nostalgic to older viewers and things that younger viewers will love to look at. The movie is perfect for everyone. Literally, everyone. There are things in it every person can enjoy, no matter who they are.

You will remember Wall-E as you remember Ratatouille and Finding Nemo.

But if we were really becoming like the humans in the movie, how ironic it is… the organic human race has become soulless, mirthless, artless, jaded, self-centered in a machine of blind consumerism but yet still respond to their surroundings like a toddler or pet with curiosity, wonder and delight in communication. I really hope we will not becoming such human race. I still believe in human touching and contacts hehehehe

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Hollywood has done it again… turning Jules Verne masterpiece into something so incredibly boring! Where's the story? It just vanished into the thin air. The script is just awful. There certainly plenty of acting talent but it's too bad it was wasted on such a vapid screenplay but the sets are colorful and that's about it!

Brendan Fraser may not be the best actor but he still has the same charm that makes him likable in the Mummy movies. As did the newcomer, the Icelandic lady - Anita Briem. Somehow, I never seems to think of her coming from Iceland but she is worth to watch. She looked good with Fraser, neither added or took away anything from the movie, though. I suppose that can be blamed on the script as she is not well developed. Seth Meyers provided some laugh scenes at the beginning and end of the movie. Josh Hutcherson whose character was Fraser’s nephew is possible becoming a great young actor.

Overall, it was just the regular adventure-movie. It's so plain that parents will have nothing to worry about! This is the ultimate perfect film for small children.

Senario The Movie: Episode 1

Apa yang boleh saya katakan tentang filem ini??? Tengok sekali pun ok dah…

Ada beberapa babak lawak macam dibuat2 dan sedaya upaya dibuat2 supaya kita ketawa seperti babak 3 pelawak itu sedang berlatih untuk uji bakat mereka ; Azli menakutkan seorang budak kecil perempuan dan Lan pula sedang bercakap berseorangan di tengah jalan. Bagi saya itu antara beberapa babak yang sungguh nampak berlakon (apa aku cakap nih??? Pretentious kata orang Penang hehehe) Bukan salah pelakon tetapi mungkin skrip filem ini yang sedemikian.

Namun saya menyukai cameo yang dibuat berdasarkan filem MIG Production yang lain seperti Rem-It dan Jangan Pandang Belakang. I like Mat Rempit... hehehehe

Cuma harapan saya kalau sambungan episod 2 atau 3 nanti, lawaknya janganlah terlalu slapstick. Kasihanilah orang macam saya yang lebih gemarkan Harith Iskandar dan Jit Murad. :P

2.5* / 5* kerana filem Malaysia untuk Malaysia juga kan???? Kalau filem Hollywood sebegini saya bagi 0.5* sahaja untuk penat buat filem.
